# Correction Notice

Tell readers what was wrong, what changed, when it changed, why it matters, whether conclusions were affected, and where corrected material now appears.

## Usage note

Use this template after the error and corrected fact have been verified and the responsible editor has chosen the remedy. Follow your publication's correction, retraction, legal, safety, and notification policies. Do not use quiet edits for a material error, and do not expose a person who reported an issue privately unless publication is necessary, accurate, and approved.

## How to use this template

1. Verify the original error, corrected fact, source, affected versions, and potential harm.
2. Decide correction, clarification, update, removal, or retraction through the responsible policy.
3. Draft exact old issue, new record, timing, and impact on conclusions.
4. Correct every owned derivative surface and notify affected downstream users where appropriate.
5. Publish, verify, preserve the audit trail, and assign prevention work.
