How to use this template
- Define the audience situation, one meaningful campaign outcome, exclusions, and evidence.
- Assemble the canonical claims, sources, rights, disclosures, limits, creative concept, and action.
- Assign each platform a distinct role and adapt format, accessibility, timing, and localization without factual drift.
- Plan approval, publishing, moderation, response, correction, escalation, and post-campaign ownership.
- Test assets and links, launch with monitoring, and report outcomes and harms against pre-agreed measures.
Define the outcome outside the platform
State what should change for the audience or program: understand an update, attend an event, use a resource, contribute evidence, or make an informed choice. Impressions and engagement are distribution signals, not the purpose by themselves. Describe the audience’s current situation and evidence behind it. Set exclusions and an appropriate non-action path. If success depends on fear, outrage, or ambiguity unrelated to the real message, revisit the campaign premise instead of optimizing creative around manipulation.
Build from a verified source
Create a canonical fact and asset pack containing claims, sources, dates, permissions, credits, required disclosures, limitations, and approved calls to action. Identify what can be shortened and what must remain. Give each platform a role based on audience behavior and format—discovery, explanation, live update, discussion, or handoff—without changing factual meaning. Plan accessible captions, alternatives, text treatment, subtitles, link destinations, and localized variants. Avoid launching several near-identical posts simply to fill a calendar.
Prepare for response and change
Anticipate legitimate questions, misinformation, criticism, support needs, abusive behavior, and content changes. Publish moderation rules, response owners, hours, escalation, and a correction path before launch. Define approval for routine posts and high-risk variants. Measure suitable outcomes alongside complaints, harmful responses, accessibility issues, and support burden. After the campaign, archive final assets, sources, permissions, learnings, and removals. A campaign can end while public posts and replies continue to require maintenance.

Fictional example: neighborhood repair clinic
Silver Lane Repair Clinic and every campaign detail are invented.
- Outcome: Residents understand which fictional appliances volunteers can inspect and reserve a suitable slot.
- Canonical fact: The event does not guarantee repair and cannot accept gas-powered equipment.
- Platform roles: A short video demonstrates the intake process; a community post carries dates, exclusions, and the booking link.
- Moderation: Safety questions go to the event lead; personal device data is not requested in public replies.
- Guardrail: If posts cause repeated misunderstanding about guaranteed repair, publishing pauses while the message is corrected.
Frequently asked questions
How many platforms should a campaign use?
Use only platforms with a defined audience and role the team can operate responsibly. More channels add adaptation, moderation, accessibility, rights, and maintenance work; they do not automatically improve the outcome.
Is engagement a suitable primary goal?
Only when meaningful participation is the real outcome and the measure reflects it. Reactions alone can reward controversy or confusion. Connect metrics to understanding, task completion, or another appropriate decision.
Should every post use the same wording?
No. Adapt order, length, format, and examples to the platform while preserving claims, conditions, attribution, and action. Use a controlled source and review factual drift.
Who owns comments after the campaign ends?
Name an aftercare owner and retention period. Public posts may continue attracting questions or misinformation. Archive, update, close, or remove them according to the approved plan and platform capability.
